ur grandfather, Jim Johnson, and our great grandfather, Maurice Johnson, loved to sing. On Sunday mornings they would get up early and drive to the local radio station. As was their custom every Sunday, they would sing into the can and great grandpa would preach. Not surprisingly, the love for singing and praising the Lord was passed down to our father, Richard Johnson. In his early years, Richard sang all over the country in a quartet. With his clear, strong voice and amazing guitar skills, he was much sought after as a worship leader in all of the churches we attended. We grew up listening to Dad as he practiced, and amused ourselves by accompanying the ladies as they sang harmony.
The love for music has not died in our family over the years and neither has our love for the Lord. We thank the Lord daily for our rich Christian heritage and for our parents and grandparents who willingly, "took up their cross daily, and followed Christ". It was because of their example that each of us has made a personal decision to choose Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We now experience the joy that comes only from knowing how infinite God's grace is to have saved us from ultimate condemnation, and the assurance of where we are eventually headed.
Blessings,
